(BEIJING, July 23) -- Anyone for a carrot?

Working tirelessly to assure the world that the food supply and food preparations for the Good Luck Beijing sports events will be unquestionably at the highest levels, the organizing committee for events convened a mobilization meeting to work on the latest preparations.

Lu Hao, Deputy Mayor of the Beijing Municipality attended the meeting and stressed the utmost importance of food safety.

He urged strengthening efforts on food production and supplies … particularly raw materials and stringently follow all Olympic food safety standards.

Some 200 people from Beijing Municipal Government, the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, county and district tourism bureaus, Olympic food sponsors, raw material suppliers, catering service providers and hoteliers participated the meeting.

The 2007 Good Luck Beijing sports events have involved 42 hotels, 12 catering service providers and 32 raw material suppliers.
