"Good Luck Beijing" hockey/archery tournaments to open

On Aug. 8 and Aug. 20, the “Good Luck Beijing” 2007 International Hockey Tournament and “Good Luck Beijing” 2007 International Archery Tournament will open respectively in the north cluster of the Olympic Park. This morning, a press conference was held in the north cluster to introduce the venue construction of the Olympic Green Hockey Field and Olympic Green Archery Field preparations for and competition schedules of the two sport events.
According to the “Good Luck Beijing” Sport Events Organizing Committee, a total of three sport events, namely hockey, archery and tennis, will be held in the north cluster of the Olympic Park, among which the International Hockey Tournament will be held on Aug. 8-13and the International Archery Tournament on Aug. 20-26.

For the “Good Luck Beijing” 2007 International Archery Tournament, every member association of the International Archery Federation (FITA) may enter three athletes of each sex and four officials. So far, the Organizing Committee has received registration forms of 203 athletes and team officials and 32 international and domestic technical officials from 28 countries and regions.
Both the Olympic Green Archery Field and Olympic Green Hockey Field are temporary buildings. The Olympic Green Hockey Field is composed of Pitch A, Pitch B, 14 auxiliary facilities, stands, parking lots, roads and other facilities, occupying a total area of 15,546 sq.m. Pitch A, as the pitch for the finals, lies to the west of the Field with a seating capacity of 12,000; Pitch B, as the pitch for the preliminaries, lies to the east of the Field with a seating capacity of 5,000. The Olympic Green Archery Field is composed of three fields and 14 affiliated buildings, with the entrances for the audience and staff workers on the west side and the entrances for athletes, officials and media people on the southeast. From east to west, the three fields are for warming up/ ranking round, elimination round/finals and elimination round respectively. The total seating capacity is 4,510, and that for the field for the elimination round is 874. So far, the construction and inspection of the venues, including the installation of temporary facilities, have been basically completed.
After the press conference, the journalists who had attended the press conference were given a tour of the Olympic Green Hockey Field, and officials in charge of the venue answered their questions about the characteristics of the Field and comments from the International Hockey Federation.
